What is difference between On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO?
Two terms you’ll hear mentioned a lot when talking about SEO ranking factors are on-page SEO and off-page SEO.
On-page SEO refers to factors on your own website that you can optimize such as the underlying code and the content.
Off-page SEO refers to actions taken outside of your site to affect your site’s trustworthiness and authority by building the right inbound links and social signals.

How do you do On Page SEO?
Performing On Page SEO is a methodical and labour intensive approach. If you own a WordPress website there are tools which can assist inexperienced wordpress administrators which simplify the process. One of our favourite tools is Squirrely. It has a checkbox system which tells you to what keyword you should use, how to optimize your title, headings, content and images. It guides you to fill in your meta title, url and meta descriptions and create links too.

What is Off-Page SEO?
Off Page Search Engine Optimisation is the process whereby you reach out to other websites, forums, blogs and directories to obtain a weblink. The weblink should ideally be from a highly ranked and niche based website that has a high domain authority. The DA (Domain Authority) score indicates how important and influential the referring domain is.
Domain extension with .gov or .edu extensions are great domains to obtain backlinks from. The are perceived by Google as being authoritative and trustworthy and therefore any link from those websites are also treated as trustworthy.
Other forms of off-page SEO may include social mentions, video, shared content on article websites and directory submissions.
The E-A-T Principal
Over the past few months, you’ve probably seen the buzzword (or acronym, rather) “E-A-T” floating around. While this term has been in the lexicon of many SEO’s for quite a while now, since the major Google algorithm update in August 2018 (AKA “the medic update”), a big bright spotlight has been shone on Google’s “E-A-T” — and it’s been frequently on the lips and fingertips of most SEO’s ever since.
So why am I talking about it now? Because the days are long gone when you could pop up on Google overnight. To rank well on Google, you need to nurture your brand by building its expertise, authority, and trustworthiness — which is exactly what E-A-T stands for!

If your content shows signs of being liked by industry related experts and has backlinks from a high DA site it is seen as holding a high level of authority. In essence, by default it will be seen as trustworthy and there ranked higher in the Google search engine.
